The division title hung in the balance as Heights took the ice against Benedictine in
the Red Southeast's final regular season game. A win by Heights would lift the Tigers
into a four-way tie for first, while a Benedictine victory would give them the crown
outright. After a hard-fought match, Heights' title chase stopped two minutes short.
Benedictine broke a 1-1 tie with 1:53 remaining, then quickly added an insurance goal
to make it 3-1. Prior to that, both teams struggled to put the puck away. Heights led
1-0 after the first period thanks to Jason Kelce's
team-leading 18th goal, but missed chances in that period proved monumental. Four
2-on-1 rushes gave the Tigers a chance to bury Benedictine early, but they didn't take
advantage. Daley Baker looked good in his first start
in four games, but his 27 saves were not enough.
