2/12/98   Padua 6 - Cleveland Heights 2

Heights entered the Baron Cup as the seventh seed after tying St. Ignatius to claim a share of the Red South Division title. However, the Tigers were promptly crushed by the number two seed Padua Bruins. Heights started with a sloppy first period, allowing Padua to build a three goal lead. The Tigers finally got through Padua's stingy defense when Eddie Babcox scored in the second period, but the Bruins added two more goals of their own to lead 5-1 entering the third. Heights played considerably better in the third period, but it was too late to get back in the game. Joe Ross picked up the only other Heights goal in the final minute of the game when he tipped Sean Collins' shot from the point into the net. Andrew Markus foiled a number of excellent Padua scoring chances but his 31 saves simply weren't enough for a win. With his goal, Babcox has now scored seven times in his last four games.
