The Tigers skated hard but didn't have enough to beat Shaker in the opening game of the
Thornton Tournament. With two players out of uniform, Heights faced a large disadvantage
in manpower, but Daley Baker helped level the playing
field. The senior goaltender made numerous brilliant saves, stopping 36 overall.
Olof Nilsson scored both goals for the Tigers, but the
team made too many turnovers and didn't keep the pressure on in the Shaker zone. The game
was tied at two apiece late in the second period, but the Raiders jumped to a 4-2 lead by
intermission. Heights' offense just couldn't get anything going in the third, while Shaker
tacked on a shorthanded goal. |
