A successful season came to an end for the Tigers with a loss to Solon in the State Tournament. Heights played two close games against the Comets back in December, and this game was similar. Both teams played well, but Solon took better advantage of their opportunities. Trey Hopkins started the scoring with a laser from the left circle in the opening minutes. It was tied 1-1 after the first period, but defensive zone turnovers helped Solon score three in the second period. A goal by Ian Kraus made it 4-2 in the third, but Solon responded with a powerplay goal, and the Tigers couldn't get any closer. Eight penalties by Heights took their toll, leading to a pair of powerplay goals for the Comets. Aidan Hall totaled 21 saves, finishing the year with career highs in wins, shutouts and save percentage. |
