Heights and Bay each needed overtime in the opening round of the Baron Cup, and then they needed four extra periods to decide round two. The Tigers skated hard in an evenly played game, but the Rockets eventually prevailed 90 seconds into the fourth overtime. Heights had chances to come away with the win, but were unable to score beyond the first period. Jordan Shoger set up Tyler Rudy on a 2-on-1 to tie the game at one in the first. Shoger then won the ensuing faceoff, skated into the Rockets' zone and roofed the puck to put the Tigers in front. Just three minutes later, Shoger struck again, shooting through a screen in the high slot to make it a 3-1 game. Bay came back with a pair of second period goals and it remained 3-3 for the next 48 minutes, as Heights went to their fourth overtime in the last five games. Liam Robinson finished with 44 saves while logging more than 70 minutes in goal. |
