Heights turned the tables on Dublin Jerome and ended the Jr. Lumberjacks MLK Tournament on
a positive note with a 5-3 victory. Jerome opened the tournament by beating the Tigers 4-0,
but Heights broke out on offense to claim the rematch.
Paris Murray led the charge with three goals and two
assists, while Daley Baker played his best game of the
season in net to cover for the team's defensive shortfalls. The match was scoreless until
the halfway mark when Alex Kraus took a feed from Murray
and snapped the Tigers' eleven-period scoring drought. The next two goals came directly
from the blade of Paris Murray. His pair of top-shelf wrist shots gave Heights a 3-0 lead
in the third period. The Celtics fought back in the third, scoring once with a
man-advantage and once while shorthanded, but the Tigers answered each time.
Dan Bray knocked in a rebound on a powerplay and Murray
tacked on an empty-netter to complete his hat trick. Jerome continued battling right to the
bitter end, getting another goal in the last minute. Daley Baker finished with 37 saves,
nearly all at close range. Heights led the final shot count 46-40 in a game that should not
be characterized as a defensive struggle.
