The Tigers gave one of their best performances of the season, but they still came up short
in a 4-3 loss to Brecksville. The final home game of the year incited emotions and finally
got the team skating hard. Heights took the lead on three occasions, but could never hold
it. Martin Birk got things started in the first, taking
a feed from Alex Kraus and netting his seventh. The Bees
tied it early in the second period, but Jordan Shoger's
long pass propelled Paris Murray to a breakaway goal that
moved the Tigers ahead. Back came Brecksville, knotting the score at two with a minute to
play in the period. Without missing a beat, Heights jumped back into the lead 27 seconds
later. Paris Murray dug the puck out of the corner and found Alex Kraus in the slot for
the tap-in. That would be the last of the offense for the Tigers. Brecksville took
advantage of their chances in the third period, scoring twice. Heights came close on a
two-man advantage, then later with a sixth attacker, but to no avail.
Daley Baker stopped 21 shots for the Tigers, including
a diving paddle save to prevent a sure goal in the first period.
