Heights followed the same formula from the previous two nights in their consolation game
rematch against Orange. The Tigers once again played well in the offensive zone and
outshot their opponents by a large margin. This time, however, Heights added a new
wrinkle: they converted on a few of those scoring chances.
Dee Samuel led the way with a pair of similar goals,
one of them shorthanded, and both of them outstanding individual efforts. Each time, he
stickhandled through multiple defenders, cut to the net, navigated around the goaltender,
and slid the puck home. Jason Kelce recorded his sixth
goal of the season on a second period breakaway, as he was being pulled down from behind.
Dan Crowell and
Dan Holmes added the final tallies in the third period.
Orange took only 13 shots, but they had some good scoring chances and a couple of
breakaways. John Mates was equal to the task, and
notched his third shutout of the year.
