The Tigers' losing streak grew to four games with a 6-1 loss to St. Ignatius in the
opening round of the Thornton Tournament. Heights had a tough time mounting an attack
and the offense only managed ten shots on goal, but
John Mates kept the Tigers close with a sharp 31-save
performance. Dan Holmes scored in his second straight
game, making it 4-1 early in the third period, but St. Ignatius answered right back with
a pair of goals in the next minute. Penalties wore Heights down in the first period. For
one stretch, the Tigers spent seven consecutive minutes shorthanded. The team killed off
four straight penalties, then gave up an even-strength goal on the next shift.
