Heights moved up to third place in the Red Southeast Division with a 5-4 win over the
Euclid Panthers. The Tigers scored twice in a strong first period and stayed in the
lead for the duration of the game. Ben Winger put
Heights on the board first, scoring in his fifth straight game, and
Dan Crowell followed soon after with his third goal
of the season. Although the Tigers' offense kept producing in the second period, the
team was unable to match the form they displayed in the first. After allowing only five
shots and one good scoring chance in the first period, Heights surrendered 15 shots and
three goals in the second. All three Panther goals were recorded in identical fashion.
The Tigers could not clear loose pucks from the crease and Euclid tapped in three easy
goals. Heights still maintained a 4-3 lead at the intermission thanks to tallies by
Jeff Houser and Ben Winger. Houser and Winger are now
tied for second on the team with eight goals each.
Chris Pesek expanded the lead to 5-3 in the third
period when his slapshot deflected in off of a Euclid defender. The Panthers picked up
the final goal of the game with two minutes to go, but goalie
Ben Gaglioti and the Tigers held on for the win.
Gaglioti turned aside many great scoring opportunities and finished with 29 saves.
