The Tigers held on for 2-1 win over Shaker Heights in the consolation game of the
Heights Holiday Tournament. The last time these teams played, Heights took a 2-1 lead
into the third period but allowed two late goals and lost. This time, Heights took a
2-1 lead into the third period, made some mistakes, but also made some great defensive
plays and ended up with the victory. When the Tigers took a penalty with less than
three minutes left on the clock, Shaker pulled their goalie and skated with a 6-on-4
advantage. Matt Crowell was forced to make some great
saves to preserve the lead. Both Heights goals were provided by
Milton Carter. Carter scored in the first period to
put the Tigers up 1-0. The second period saw the two teams combine for 11 penalties.
Shaker tied the score with a powerplay goal and Heights answered with a powerplay goal.
Milton Carter redirected Brendon Benner's shot for the
game-winning tally. Matt Crowell finished with 27 saves on 28 shots.
