Heights got off to another slow start against a Red South opponent, but a four-goal
third period lifted the Tigers to a 5-1 win over Rocky River. Heights could've opened
a large lead in the first period as they produced a handful of outstanding scoring
chances, but the Pirates' goaltender made all the tough saves and kept the game
scoreless at intermission. Rocky River took the lead on a second period powerplay when
one Pirate skated through the entire Heights defense to score the first goal.
Brendon Benner finally got the Tigers on the board,
scoring after a scramble in the Rocky River crease. A few minutes into the third
period, Andrew West gave Heights the lead with his
seventh goal of the year as the Tigers started putting the puck away.
Mike Ruflin scored on a deflected shot from the point,
Brendon Benner slapped in his second goal of the game, and Ruflin followed with his
second goal as well. Heights also had two potential goals disallowed during the third
period onslaught. Matt Crowell earned the win,
diffusing some difficult situations and totaling 16 saves.
