Heights lined up against the St. Edward Eagles for the second time in seven days to
open the 30th annual Thornton Park Hockey Tournament. This game was just as tight as
the previous, but the Tigers came up on the short end this time.
Jeff Houser put Heights on the scoreboard first with
some fancy stickwork and his second goal of the season. St. Edward scored later in
the first period to knot things up at intermission. The Eagles took the advantage in
the second period by scoring two goals in the first few minutes, but
Joe Ross scored his first goal of the season to shave
the deficit to one. The Tigers finally clawed back to even in the third period when
Jeff Houser collected his second goal of the game. With five minutes left in the game,
however, St. Edward came back to score the game-winner.
Matt Crowell made 30 saves in the loss. Heights stayed
out of the penalty box and made very few errors, but it wasn't enough for the win.
